      War already is a subscription.

People hating on subscriptions without understanding why subscribtions exist and make sense grinds my gears.

War machinery requires maintenance, munitions exercise and regular training. Also updates and modernizations. Each of these is an ongoing cost of ownership.

Subscriptions are only bad if there is no ongoing value being provided or your are being price gouged.

Of course it is. Is a joke though.

And I totally get why companies want everything to be a subscription, but that does not make me hate subscriptions less. Even more, actually.

Huh, interesting. Kinda makes sense - if your conceptualization of your own masculinity is bound up in warrior aesthetics and the realities of warfare don’t look/feel masculine-warrior in that sense anymore, this might feel disorienting.
