The Daily Show is back! And our heat wave is supposed to break today! We had massive storm come through and expect another one today. My neighbor lost one of their trees!

woah, it must’ve been a hell of a storm to snap a tree trunk like that! 😨 i hope everyone’s okay in the storm(s) and no one’s homes got/get damaged.🤞
Yeah, wild, it looks as though it was a healthy tree, too!
Wind is so fascinating. That big ass tree got noped, but there is still comparatively light patio furniture with small items still on the table just patioing out there.
Perhaps it was a microburst and all the wind was more or less concentrated in one spot and coming from above.

It was healthy, but somehow the half dead one in my yard survived. It is surrounded by smaller trees that may break up the wind around it.
As far as I know, no injuries. That’s just one big tree down in my neighborhood.
I dehydrated my milk and I’m left with brownish granules that refuse to dissolve even in boiling water. Hm.
How much fat was in the milk? I wonder, would the result be different, if milks with different fat content would be dehydrated… Or lactose free milk. Doing the different fat contents could reveal, how much that affects the structure. And lactose free testing could tell, what part the sugar plays. I wonder, if pasturization or ultra-heat-treating, could affect the structural result as well…
I mean, there is likely some scientific research, that can tell these things exactly… but who does not like, to do some science?
Wind is extremely scary.
We went to get a new dehydrator so we went to check at home depot and they said they didn’t have them in store, then asked “Is it an emergency” and I froze because how do I say “There is no such thing as a food dehydrator emergency” without being an ass so I just said “nooooo” drawn out.
We forgot to buy the metal tape I need to keep repairing the dryer with. Oops. It’ll still run, it’ll just take more trips through the dryer to get well, dry.
“Of course it’s an emergency! Do you think these grapes just turn into raisins on their own!?”
You can still use an oven on very low! And also also, as my brain keeps pointing out, you’d still be waiting like 12 hours for them to dehydrate! So it’s…a very long emergency???
I think she was so use to asking the question it just arrived!
