Was installed with the building. The original Masons would meet in this room. It’s now the upstairs to a antique shop.
Maybe this area had been unused and exposed before the pic, or just not used much, but jinkies, something doesn’t add up.
If i was a microbiologist, this would make me very excited.
I can’t own a rug for five minutes without a dog ruining it with some kind of bodily fluid.
I remember my odd dog who would pee on the carpet in the living room when everyone is asleep. I only caught him once when i was waiting for my father to get back home and I fell asleep in the living room.
We have a male dog who does that only at other people’s houses. Took longer than it should have to learn this. Oops.
My 3 year old rug smells like it’s been here for 117 years thanks to my inlaws “cleaning it”
Next time your at their house, try to flush a pillow. When they ask, shrug and say “it wouldn’t go down” and walk out.
I wish relationships with in-laws were so easily managed.
Same!
I can’t wait to try this.
It’s so gorgeous oh my god. Like it genuinely makes me feel good to look at
The detail and nuance in the pattern and colors mixed together made it feel like a classic immediately. When the store clerk told me about the carpet I was imagining something terrible.
Is it silk or something?
Probably wool (maybe wool and cotton) since it’s held up for this long in a high traffic semi-public area and was installed around 1909.
Carpet used to be very expensive, but also serviceable. The good stuff (this looks like the good stuff) would have been wool, and it would have been taken up to clean and maintain on occasion pre-ww2. There was a lot more manual labor back then, skilled and not. So “have the maker touch it up” and “have someone beat the dust out with sticks” would both have been regular occurrences
Maybe, I didn’t touch it.
They don’t make 'em like they used to. :/
I got down* to look close, I was surprised how good it looked.
Sorry to hear. I hope it was worth your job!
What did it say?
I got fired to look close, I was surprised how good it looked.
Wow, I need to not type when tied… Fail me.
Why are you tied? 🪢🥵
Tired… 😂
now they make em out of plastic
I would call bullshit, but I’m no expert. My plastic carpets starts flaying in less than 5 years, and proper rugs require a loan
On one hand, cool.
On the other, I’m gonna puke.
Lick it.
Yes, your comment worked. 🤢
