Okay this is a 10 second clip of very cherry picker shots. The first one outside faces treasure Island, the sun is hitting it pretty hard, so I would say it’s fairly early morning. Anyone who has ever been to Vegas will tell you that surprisingly, the floors are pretty empty in the morning. You know, because everyone is asleep.
This also could be a random Wednesday at 9am for all I know. Not exactly a reliable source here.

This. Vegas IS a ghost town in the morning. If you are seeing this after the sun goes down then it would be a problem
Tourism has definitely slowed, but it’s not like in this video. You can confirm this by looking at the live cameras of the strip.
Same is true for the airport videos. Yes travel has slowed pretty significantly but people are exaggerating to get clicks.
Oh I’m not surprised used it’s slowed down at all. Vegas is second only to Florida where more rural (and poorer) Midwestern and southern people go in the US, it’s no surprise they aren’t traveling as much. Less about Vegas and more about how people are doing as a whole.

Went to Vegas recently. I went there in 2005, then in 2012. So can’t say my brain remembered a lot of it.
Yeah it was as quiet as the video at the casinos I was in.
In the shopping areas, it was significantly busier. But not in the casino floor.
Again, I didn’t think anything about it as I dont have context if this is supposed to be packed or not.
What I do know is I paid $22 for nachos for my buddy and I. We had to throw half of it away because the portions were like for five people. Later we went to get a beer at a bar, and it was $14. I also had to carshare everywhere because it’s not a walking city.
That’s not great, but not unprecedented. This clip is most likely cherry picked.

This was my experience. I didn’t think anything of it. I hate busy places.
I’m guessing it’s supposed to be way more crowded than this?
It still shows a drastic reduction in crowd size. Just a year ago it would have been difficult to get clear shots of any of those places.
Was there last month, was as busy as ever before. I like the theory that this was early morning or otherwise taken out of context. Sure, it’s down, but not a ghost town

I don’t know about the demographic who visits Vegas but where I grew up, it was mostly Asians who loved to gamble at the Indian casinos.
And we’ll, ICE ain’t making it friendly right now to be a tourist.
The poor used to gamble as a way to (unsuccessfully) get more money. The 1% never filled the floors. But they did bring in lots of money.
Gambling for the 1% has largely been about money laundering.
I wonder if they could get more people in there by having tables where you could play Smash Bros. or Red Alert 2 against house players for money. Every game of poker or blackjack I’ve ever played I lost hard and had no fun, but if I could pay a professional to absolutely crush me at Street Fighter, I might be inclined to go into a casino for that kind of treatment.
I would lose all my money trying to defeat the top pro gamers in Rocket League and Counter-Strike. Though I might make some back in RL. But I ain’t ever winning in CS. I was only ever gold ak. But I was regularly playing with pros in RL at the top rank anyway.

I have no idea how half those store in that Venetian mall stay in business. I went to VMware Explore this year and there were quite a few people attending but very few of those stores had any body in them. The food places seem to do ok but the high end stores were just empty. I can’t imagine the rent is cheap enough to keep them open. It was kinda sad actually. Reminded me of going into the dead malls around here.
