“The biometric entry and exit system is not a surveillance program,” the department said in the same document. DHS will retain this personal data for up to 75 years."

This tells you exactly where their priorities are; even the most stringent of clinical trial data isn’t archived for more than ~25 years

We just want to know if indeed your health care works better than ours to see how sexy you turn out so we can do the same 75 years from now.

They’re surely already registering your ID when you enter, so I’m not sure exactly what added surveillance power this gives them? And they’re already photographing everyone entering by air, their own citizens included.

Like, the only surveillance benefit I can think of is getting a slightly more up to date photo to track you through flock cameras or something, but given how dogshit the cameras they use at the airports are, I doubt that’s the purpose.

Any Canadians still travelling to the US deserve to get deported to some third country at this point.

I know it’s fun to pull the “all these people are subhuman trash, I am morally superior” shtick, but many Canadians have family in the States or have to travel there for work-related reasons. Not every Canadian traveling to the US is doing so because they’re quislings going to Vegas or Miami on vacation. I despise the United States with a passion, so how about we don’t emulate them by acting like mean-spirited, classless Americans?

We don’t deserve that. We shouldn’t maybe be surprised, but nobody deserves that.
