I always call mine “bro” or “my son”. Rarely do I ever actually say his name lol.

My Pyrenees is my big baby. My Yorkie is my little man. My orange cat is “fat bad.” My other pets have names that are too fun, not to say. I got “bucket.” She’s a tabby named bucket. I got “meow san” because her automatic feeder came from Japan, and it had an audio feature that said, "meow-san. “Monkey” is meow-sans sister. My partner picked that name. Hearing her call her name makes me HAVE to call her monkey. They’re both too sweet.

Dude, I think we have over 30 cats. It’s a farm, though. (Not the owner)

    Edit: “Hey butthole”

I call my cat by his name. Not his full name, just the first name unless he’s being formally introduced or in a lot of trouble.

I have many names for them, though, only one it’s the official name. Nevertheless, I call them by their nicknames, which are numerous.

Both Mimi and her son Zigou respond to their names. Orange Zigou is not the brightest, so I value and use the fact the he did learn his own name.

Harley was a 7 year old we brought home from the shelter, and she already knew her name so we didn’t have a lot of latitude to change it on the fly.

However, she did respond just as well to “Barley”, so that became her new name, with the standard variety of variants like “Barles” (said like “Charles”), “Barlow” or “Barlikins”.

One of my cats chose her name, so we only address her by that. If we’re getting fancy we’ll append onto it, but never totally different names. We also have two brothers, one has many nicknames, but we still call him by his name about half the time. The other we call by his name most of the time.

Cthulhu gets called whatever name we currently feel she deserves - Lady Meowington, Catthulhu, Catto, Little Miss Muggins. We would only use her actual name to call her/scold her for being naughty
