News outlets reporting on people’s internet comments needs to die. That said, the bloke and his family should have gone for curry.
Indian people will tell you that the “Indian dishes” which are popular in the West are not actually Indian. Tikka masala is British-originated for example. Curry is also a specific dish but the word became a catch all term for any Indian food with curry sauce.
I can confirm: authentic Indian dishes are in fact not primarily based on premixed spices made into cream based gravies.
Indian migrants have made some pretty interesting dishes by integrating with local cuisine. Case in point: bunny chow.
Who eats out on Christmas day? Never in my life could I imagine doing that.

The shocking thing for me is the idea that anywhere is actually open. I’d assume even people who don’t celebrate would take the day off because of how bad business is.
More and more people I know are eating out on Xmas day, I mean its crazy money but they haven’t got to cook, clean up, or worry about everyone in their house.
If there are staff happy to work, I.e. don’t celebrate, then it seems like its a small but growing trend.
Depends. Business can be excellent for anyone in a large jewish, muslim, or asian neighborhood. Those people tend to not celebrate christmas so it’s just a day to them. It’s part of the reason why in the US chinese people like jewish people so much because of how much they eat chinese food at christmas.

Business is pretty good if your the only place open. They usually use a fixed menu and make quite a bit.
I have nothing against it, but it’s probably not “traditional” to do so.
One year my ex said I could take the boys for Christmas day if I wanted but I can’t cook a roast in my shitty oven so I looked into going out to the pub instead.

My family has gone to the same Indian restaurant for Christmas for over a decade now (well since covid we’ve had it as takeaway) so curry at Christmas is traditional to us now
