I’m more confused on how drinking gas works. Gas is something I breath in, rather than drink.

A jerry can is a container specifically for fuel. The name comes from the fact that the design we still use to this day was invented in Germany and allied forces would take nazi fuel containers after a conflict because they were of much better quality than what the allies had. A “Jerry” is a nickname for a German.

That’s what the character was known for, my dude. A wealth of knowledge on a momentary detail that was both surprising and oddly tangential.
He was known for saying stuff that sounded good but some critical thing(s) were totally wrong.
