being such a huge fan of control, i tried so hard to like alan wake, but just couldn’t get through the clunkiness. aw2 didn’t resonate either. quantum break was ok, but i hate games with so much missable stuff

Same on AW1, I played it a second time with cheats on and it was so much nicer. It’s not even that clunky, just annoying and repetitive. Not having to deal with that and focusing on the story more was great.

For real? Huh. I came in after Control and I had a great time. Didn’t realize that it was perceived that way.

Ended up running through 1 and Nightmare.

I do play a lot of older games, though, so I’m used to a certain amount of jank.

The combat felt like a chore/filler 90% of the time, that’s my only issue. Collecting pages was annoying but that’s bc you don’t have as much movement like in Control, I ended up following a guide for the ones I missed. I am into faster games tho, with less resource hoarding

edit: I also came after Control so it’s not fair to AW being much older but it is what it is

Fair enough. Like I said, it certainly doesn’t play anywhere near as well as control does, but apparently really wasn’t bad enough to bother me.

Edit: Then again, I’m certainly not going to tell anybody else how they’re supposed to feel. XD

Oh, and I just picked up in your comment that it sounds like you were completing everything. I wasn’t really into it enough to want to get 100% so that may have also impacted my experience versus yours.

I played it a few times, most of them without 100%ing, in the end I realized shotgun + infinite ammo is the answer. Still makes for a kickass setting, loved playing the control DLC afterwards, makes that freeze frame document hit like a truck. I just wish the “remaster” was a bit better, it deserves to have more than nicer textures thrown in.

Suddenly I think I’m a bit of a novice compared to you. XD

I’ve been playing for decades, but it isn’t a title that has yet called me back for a 2nd.

It may still, idk, because I go mostly on feeling when chosing my next title.

Yup. Tried it: nope. Played Control, loved it. Maybe I gave Alan Wake a bad shake? Tried it again, nope again. It just doesn’t do it for me. But I’m glad it does for others!

It’s just that not all games are for everyone. I’m not interested of aw and never tried, but a lot more people have praised than cursed it so I guess it must be a good games

I think it’s funny how, when presented with a dog, people’s mind instantly jumps to "JOHN WICK GAEM?!?!?!“

And if you find a cat chill enough to put up with the tape, getting it to make any motion for you to capture is a constant struggle. (Not to mention that you’d probably need a Sphynx to keep the fur from getting in the way . . .)
