All the age verification stuff is just the excuse to de-anonymize your online accounts, all without needing to get a warrant and go through an ISP for the IP, etc. so they can easily identify an individual directly whenever you say something online. And if you use the same username everywhere, they only need to identify one to know who you are with 99% certainty.
It has nothing to do with age or porn, that’s just the easy excuse.

It’s not about people being easier to control without porn. It’s about creating the first stepping stone. Instead of going the full authoritarian route of “Access to the internet requires login at a government portal and you’re being tracked wherever you go online”, you start with small things. Age verification on devices to “protect the children”, making “abhorrent” porn illegal - you put the first elements into place. Those things are hard to argue against - nobody wants to admit he’s watching porn, and you can’t really argue against “protecting the children” without looking cruel in the public eye. Once that is done, you can start expanding on those. Then it’s not just age verification on device, but also a government ID tied to you online, all to “combat terrorism” of course.
And if you give it more time, you’re being woken up by the humming sound of a security drone in front of your window on 04.03.2045 in a full authoritarian state.
Anything to distract from the ultra wealthy taking all the gains, contributing relatively nothing to society, and everyone suffering because their greed is inexhaustible.

Last week in the comments of a youtube channel (big Clive) I like I saw some comments saying something like “you should do a colab with the black belt barrister”. Always looking for new stuff, I checked it out. One of the first videos I saw was titled “This nonsense needs to stop”, while the text in the thumbnail read “Labour’s attack on girls’ rights”. It was the “transgender teens shouldn’t be in girls sports” trope, complete with everyone in the comments cheering him on. And while this is only one channel, the fact that multiple people seem to recommend it in a channel I’m following says a lot to me. The anti porn crusade fits right in, just keep people mad about stuff that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, have them vote right and steal everything.
