Is there actually an advantage to them hiding his death? Isn’t having him not vote and not be replaced with another right wing shithead beneficial to his opponents?

Yes, they don’t want him replaced by a democratic governor. The deadline is in early August for that. If they can hold out until then, they’ll hold a special election that would likely end up republican.

The governor doesn’t replace him. Kentucky has passed a law requiring a special election to be held instead. Also when the governor was able to replace a senate seat, Kentucky had law that it had to be replaced with a person of the same party.

    Let’s be serious here…

The only way to know for sure is to stick and poke your finger into that physical flesh.

You’re all imagining this right? Very physically and texturally… Right?

🤮 But seriously, relatives of kidnappers wouldn’t accept a clearly touched up (being generous here since he looks 30 years younger) photo as evidence.

I find the amount of conspiracy mongering on Lemmy seriously disheartening, and it genuinely makes me consider leaving the platform and going back to Reddit.

If Reddit is what you’re considering as an alternative, “conspiracy mongering” can’t be your ACTUAL problem since there’s much MORE of it there.

Also, conspiracies happen and thus realistic conspiracy theories based on real patterns of behavior and clear motives shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand.

Maybe by volume, but certainly not proportionately. The percentage of content on Lemmy that is just straight conspiracy nonsense is ridiculous. There was a post not a day or two ago where people seriously believed that Japanese TV was blurring Trump’s neck because it looked like a vagina. It’s literally Newsmax in here, and it’s constant. On Reddit at least there was enough other content to drown it out so if doesn’t hit my feed every single day.

I left reddit however many years ago now because I disagree with their business practices. I’ve been exclusively Lemmy for years at this point. But the community writ large kinda sucks.

Mitch McConnell fell down and is a billion years old. He’s not dead. They did a photoshoot. He looks good in a staged photoshoot because it’s not a candid on capital hill when he’s at a press conference or something. Of course he looks better/younger in a staged photoshoot than some random political candid. They may have even put some makeup on him to cover up some bruising. They’re not weekend at Bernies-ing his corpse around for kicks and giggles. It doesn’t even pass a smell test.

You’re aware of the deadline right? He doesn’t need to be dead to be unfit for duty. And if he were fit for duty, we’d have fucking seen him by now. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just obvious they’re trying to make him sound far more capable than he is in his decrepit state.

Are you talking about the August 3rd special election deadline? If anything that would make them more likely to want him dead. If they miss it, it’s a vacant seat. You’re telling me the Kentucky Republican party thinks they’d lose it? In Kentucky?

Making him seem more capable to what end? What does it accomplish? He can’t vote from the hospital.
