The sheer volume is what stresses me

All of them, this is why I don’t have pets or plants or anything that would rely on me for staying alive. Lol. I can barely keep myself alive some days.

Mental load. I love autopilot tasks, and will happily do dishes sweep vacuum laundry whatever. But deal with The Pile? where random stuff has built up and each item has to be considered and handled separately? Oof, count me out. My spouse is the opposite, and used to get pissed that I didn’t handle the piles, but now we do the stuff that we do best, though I still have to deal with my stupid desk pile…

My wife and I just have separate bathrooms so we can each have our own pile that the other doesn’t have to deal with.

Hard to say. I live with another person and we have agreed on who does what so luckily we both end up doing the personally-least-stressing chores. And since I hate-hate-hate vacuuming and happen to live in a house with wooden floors (my country doesn’t do full-room-carpets) I just sweep and mop instead.

If something stresses you insane amount, try to work around it. You don’t need to do everything just like you were once told to do,

Very busy and burdensome commitments are a “make or break” kind of thing, on a personal level for an individual or for a couple/cohabiting pair. You need to quickly figure out an efficient system to manage the essentials, or else you’ll drown pretty quickly. Kids are a huge amount of work, especially alongside home chores and work… I’ve seen people manage very well, and some who manage very poorly.

I either don’t understand what you tried to say or you maybe replied to a wrong comment?

I’m better at doing a huge amount of work than a small amount. If I’ve got 5 minutes of work to do, I’ve got a bunch of time to think about how little I want to do it, and often end up putting it off. If I’ve got so much work that I have no free time at all, then I just get started with the work without even thinking about it, and keep going until it’s done.

Im the same way. If i have 30 minutes here or there, i convince myself that its not enough time to get anything done and itll take me more time cleaning up than actually doing anything.

If my wife and kids are gone for a day, I’m busting projects out left and right. Last time, i patched 2 holes in walls, and about a dozen damaged parts from nails/hooks, cleaned out the garage and basement and took countless truck loads of stuff to be donated in boxes that we never opened after we moved into our house 2 years ago

It’s not so much a particular chore that stresses me as the total volume of work that needs to be done. Mopping the floor when there isn’t much I need to do? Not stressful. Mopping the floor when it’s one of many chores? Stressful.

Cleaning the toilet. Every time. Can’t stand it.

Mowing the lawn, too. Love that I can get fined arbitrarily by the city for something that takes so much effort to keep on top of./s

Painting. I’m too worried about messing up. So instead I don’t do it and it looks bad anyway. Somehow knowing that still doesn’t help, though.

Administrative stuff regarding communicating with kids school or apartment buildings HOA or bank or internet service provider.

It’s one of those things that pisses me off way too easily. Luckily i can offload that aspect to my wife.

Unloading the washing machine and dryer.

My wife will freak the fuck out if a piece of washed laundry so much as touches the floor and insist that it be rewashed if not thrown out.
