The poll says 66 percent of Jewish voters in the US believe that Aipac’s campaign spending against candidates who criticise Israel actually increases antisemitism in the country.

In addition, 60 percent believe that Jewish organisations that label harsh criticism of Israel as antisemitic are exploiting concerns about antisemitism to defend unpopular Israeli government policies.

Notably, 80 percent of Jewish voters believe that Israel’s actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza are increasing antisemitism in the US.

Yeah, no shit. The “Jews control the world” thing is pure antisemitism, but it’s honestly sounding more and more reasonable for people to believe it when a Jewish State is behind things like anti-BDS laws, and the deplatforming of Macklemore.

And for those of us who know that Israel ≠ Jews, there are AIPAC members insisting the opposite.

It’s honestly hard work resisting antisemitic ideas when there are Jewish organizations trying to prove old harmful stereotypes right for some reason.

    It fucking sucks.

Israel isn’t even the one driving. It’s Western capitalists and their need for an imperialist stronghold in the Middle East. Israel is a puppet state enacting the will of (mostly US) imperialists.

Good to hear. This is the kind of news that actually fights antisemitism.

Antisemitism is the lifeblood of Israel, it’s absolutely necessary to justify their continued existence as an unaccountable genocidal apartheid state, freely ratfucking your media and political institutions and paid for by your tax dollars.

My very Jewish friend in high school, a vehement antizionist, said that truly beating antisemitism doesn’t mean one place Jews are safe, but having Jews be safe everywhere.

Hard to disagree with that. Furthermore, it’d be lovely if that was equally true for everybody else too.

Less likely than spontaneous pink unicorns happening, but definitely lovely.

And I’m not even sure they are all that safe in Israel. Or their actions don’t seem to indicate that they feel safe.

In any case, I am quite sure that this notion of a relationship that no one could ever question in this country (until fairly recently) stoked a metric shit-ton of antisemitism here.

People have a really hard time with the nuance of “I hate that I’m funding a country like Israel no matter what their actions are and no matter how I vote. Also, I’ll be labeled an ‘antisemite’ and lambasted for this criticism.” Some people in that camp may not really be able to tell the difference between what the country of Israel is doing vs. what “the Jews are up to”. And so some fall into outright antisemitism.

I do have to say a bunch of people lording it over others that no one could say shit without being drummed out of polite society does build up a lot of resentment. And people are right to be deeply resentful. It just needs to be aimed at those that are to blame, though. I mean, we don’t even have universal healthcare here, but Israel does? Why the fuck are we sending so much money to them?

Their actions have directly caused them feeling less safe.

When you forcibly take away territory from a neighboring people so you can give it to “settlers” from your country, you generate resentment and anger.

When you label an entire population as terrorists and kill a large portion of their people you create the next generation of angry orphans who will seek revenge against you.

They have many super pacs they use to funnel money to dems without being noticed immediately.

This is why , as a good rule of thumb, any politician getting a lot from PACS means they likely are either 1. Bought by companies. 2. Bought by Israel. Or 3. Both.

Vote for Dems who get most of their donations from small individual donations.

Large individual donations could just be corporations or aipac trying to hide who gave the money.

Here are some of aipacs “secret” PACS.

      Source: https://www.trackaipac.com/about/aipac

There are probably many not yet found out. Especially smaller ones or newer ones.

Many do not say “Israel” nor “Jewish” in the name and just sound like progressive groups. Many imply they are for minorities and women politicians.

It hasn’t been obvious to previous generations of US Jews, so this is a big deal, and gives the Palestinian solidarity movement a big opportunity.

The criticism is more that Israel being explicitly the “Jewish state” makes their political atrocities linked to people who just share the religion. The possibility of this happening was actually a point of criticism by some jewish people before the creation of Israel: It turns a religious and cultural identity into a political one, which has mutated zionism into an ethnonationalist ideology.

Well no, the criticism is whether it looks bad on Jews. Not about committing atrocities on others.

The question they should ask is whether Israel should exist or not.

I never know what people mean by “Isreal should not exist.” its a comment very open to interpretation. Do you mean the government should not exist? Its people should disappear?

I think Israel could exist if it wasn’t a imperialist religious ethnostate, the problem is the government and who it leaves out. If Israel included all Palestine and all citizens as equal partners in its government it could most certainly exist. Its never going to happen in our lifetime, but a one state solution is the only solution that doesn’t involve genocide as a prerequisite of success, IMO.

Over 100 years ago a president broke up a shit ton of monopolies and virtually every child in America still has a stuffed animal named after him…

A big part of why people are so pessimistic these days, is they’re ignorant that we’ve fixed these problems before and can do it again, even when we still carry the cultural remnants in our day today lives.

At this point it’s honestly not even hard, just gotta get people to vote in the 28 primaries.

Again, that only seems weird because neoliberals sold out our party for 30 years…

They kept moving right to please corps and oligarchs, but it was slow so Republicans couldn’t leap frog them and switch. It just drove them straight to extremism.

None of that was a coincidence.

But neoliberals lost the party almost two years ago, that’s why Tuesday happened. Republican party will have to move back to center or be replaced by a new party. And the chaos that would cause would be enough to really fix our government.

Do you think AIPAC funding a Super PAC that runs campaign ads against candidates who criticize Israel increases antisemitism in the United States?

    Uh…

It’s weird to act like AIPAC is the start of it, or that they don’t control the super PAC they raise donations for. Israel funds AIPAC to solicit donations for it’s Super PAC, UDP.

Until 2021, AIPAC did not raise funds for political candidates itself; its members raised money for candidates through political action committees unaffiliated with AIPAC and by other means.[which?][6] In late 2021, AIPAC formed its own political action committee, AIPAC PAC, and announced plans for a super PAC, the United Democracy Project, which can spend money on candidates’ behalf.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIPAC

The Israeli government is AIPAC and AIPAC is UDP.

It’s effectively the same single entity.

    Quick edit:

Also, it’s a J street poll, and there’s some red flags in there too, stuff like asking what year respondents were born in, then the options are ages.

But if you don’t know what J Street is, they’re Zionist lobbyists, literally, I don’t mean that in the way the word gets thrown around.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J_Street

If AIPAC is MAGA, J Street are neoliberals, same destination, just different speeds to get to there.

With rightwing losses in both Israel and America, look for them to fill AIPACs role by 2028. If for no other reason than current toxic branding.
