Kirson in her statement to THR said she “donated the entirety of what I was paid to perform there to a human rights organization.”

She did not say how much the comedy festivals paid her, or the group to which she donated her fee.

So she cannot or will not actually confirm any of this actually happened… Right.

    Jessica Kirson right now:

Right, and we’re just taking the word of someone who betrayed their own sexual identity for some money on this being true when she offered no evidence to support the assertion.

You say betrayed. I say she went out there in a place she would be put to death for just being who she is and did her job. She got paid for it and she gave it all away. You’re just angry because you believe in this bullshit cancel culture where we don’t associate with people who believe differently than us. You want to cut them off and exile them. I think it’s better to show them we’re all the same and there’s nothing wrong with being gay. If she made a single person laugh then she’s doing good work.

While i don’t know the first thing about her performances, but if it was openly queer then it’d be worse if she didn’t go tbh. the opportunity to be openly queer in a repressive society is an opportunity to do good, to undermine their dogmatic bullshit.

I think it just further serves to whitewash Saudi Arabia. “Look, we’re so progressive we let a woman on stage! (but a man better have fucking brought her there)”

Really? You believe her even though she didn’t say how much she donated and to what organization? This read as PR damage control of the highest level.

Yeah I feel like it must be miserable being so distrusting and angry about everything at all times, she still shouldn’t have done it but seems to be a fair apology attempt

It’s a damn shame the saudis got some lesbian representation for all of the Lesbian and Gay people living over there in fear. They need it the most and their own government was willing to pay her for it. You short sighted fucks decided to shame her for doing her job in a place that it was very dangerous to do it. This was a net positive, but now you’ve got her afraid and apologizing for bringing western comedy and culture over there. Internet people make me sick. It seems like no one actually read the article.
