Dems are beholden to billionaires. They just don’t want to be as obvious as Republicans.

    It’s not liberals versus conservatives.

It’s the rich versus the rest.

There’s a lot more of us than there are of them.

DNC platform is tax the rich, raise minimum wage, and fund social programs. They have had 48 or less senators for over 13 years, currently 45. The last time they had 58 for less than two months they caucused with 2 independents to pass Medicaid. They would have launched a Public Option identical to Germany’s healthcare if not for one of those independents opposing it.

DNC is liberal, DNC is on our side, Vote DNC. Or, if an independent polls higher, then vote for them because at least they’re not a Republican and removing every single Republican should be our goal.

Many democrats are on our side. Historically, traditionally the DNC AKA leadership absolutely isn’t. There have been some changes in recent history. And that’s good. But till there’s enough history to plot out a new pattern of behavior. We’d be fools to treat them as if they changed.

The biggest problem with the Democratic party for decades has been that they’re serving two masters. Lip-service to the voters to try and get their neoliberal candidates in office. But legislating largely for the major donors that took over funding the party once Reagan broke the unions. The DNC talks the talk. But atm are unable to walk the walk. I hope that changes soon. With each death and retirement, things look a little better for them.

Many democrats are on our side.

          Yeah, like three of them.

And the rest are fighting harder to stop Democrats who actually are on our side than they are against fascists: people like Mamdani and Platner.

They had 58 senate seats 16 years ago for 2 months. They had 53 seats over 13 years ago. They had 48 or less every year since.

And yet they do pass such legislations literally all the time. You just ignored it.

I corrected this slightly, but you’re right. They know that none of it is actually going to get done, and they have the excuses already lined up: not enough votes, obstruction, filibuster, parliamentarian, etc. etc. etc.

It’s the same reason some billionaires insist that they support higher taxation on themselves, because they know it is never going to happen.

            I agree.

And also, itd be great if senators like Bernie, Warren and others, actually called out their “peers” who are obviously blocking progress.

I think my two Senators: Kaine, and Warner are playing a shell game where they go as corporate as they can and still give the appearance of resistance.

And yet I ha e to vote for them until there is a viable alternative. Its just so frustrating the lack of transparency.

Honestly, I think voting for them isn’t even enough. We have to promote them. We have to outwardly support them and not talk shit about them online or in public, or else they will lose to a Republican and we’ll be all that much worse off.

I mean, depends on your definition of “talking shit” is. If you would describe what I said as “talking sbit” I think that makes the party way too inwardly focused, and almost “cult of personality” like we see from the republicans.

The good thing about the democratic party is the wide tent and diversity of strategies. We need to be more transparent and proove ourselves since we dont (alway) have millionaire and billionaire funding.

I would not slander Democrats and still encourage voting, but to take a different stance, I cant exactly enourage Palestinians to vote for a candidate that actively promoted the genocide of their people. So its tricky, and open primaries and diqlog really clarify all that.

It was suspicious how many accounts claiming to be left-leaning all of a sudden in like, July 2024 decided to suddenly buy the lies the GOP had been selling for years that Biden was old and senile just because he has a stutter.

The DNC does need to have better primaries though. Which means people PARTICIPATING in them. But also not allowing people like Bloomberg to buy their way in. To actually HOLD primaries like they didn’t for Biden’s incumbent campaign.

Biden won the primary just like every incumbent in us history, and then he stepped down and his Vice President took over.

And when Biden won the previous primary in 2020, he actually more than doubled the runner up Bernie Sanders.

            Nonsense.

Donald has the same amount of power that Clinton, Obama, and Biden had.

The problem isn’t a lack of power. It’s their predilection to enrich themselves at the expense of their constituents. The only difference is Donald isn’t offering shitty excuses like Dems do.

Biden had the least amount of power because as I mentioned the DNC have had 48 or less senators for over 13 years.

To be clear, Trump’s power comes solely from inaction in the Senate.

But, on that note, Biden accomplished a lot of great things including taxing the rich.

The Dems had control for a few months in 2011, and that was when they passed the ACA. That was the only point in my lifetime they controlled the government.

The last time before that was 1961-1969. Which included such legislation as the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act, though in sure you can find plenty more that was passed.

Not to mention that the Dems have absolutely been discussing progressive legislation. It’s failed to pass, passed and then been vetoed, or even at times been passed and then struck down by conservative courts.

In 2003 they banned campaign funding from PACs instead allowing only a maximum from individuals, but in 2007-2010 the SCOTUS shut it down then declared it unconstitutional.

The Inflation Reduction Act also contained a ton of good stuff not even related to Inflation.

The DNC has had multiple opportunities to tax the rich, raise minimum wage, and fund social programs during my lifetime and they have not done so once. I don’t believe them anymore when they say it’s their platform.

The quiet part is there wasn’t a plan to tax the rich for another decade or two when they thought shit would actually hit the fan. Shit hit the fan much sooner than they hoped, as this was an issue they were going to leave the next generation to handle. It’s more an issue of the baby boomers having had control of the DNC for decades.

Business was booming during the Obama years; why did it matter to the rich people in Congress if the rest of us had to hustle more? That’s the real reason they didn’t tax the rich when they could have, well that and they were getting tons of funding from the big businesses.

The pro-corporate Dem plans went up in flames quite a lot when Hillary was not elected. Now that shit got worse much sooner than they hoped, they’re in a rock and a hard place because they still don’t want to tax their rich buddies but the voters are actually pushing to vote them out if they keep doing nothing.

The last legislation I can remember is the pro act, which failed. There have been progressive executive orders, progressive agency moves in the executive, progressive judges appointed, but all of this was destroyed by sleeper agent dinos. I’m also not remotely naive enough to believe that Manchin, Sinema, and Fetterman are the only ones. Legacy fossils like Dick Durbin was literally the leader and he betrayed us recently upon retirement. They’re largely career-minded capitalists through and through with few exceptions, the rotating villain shtick is fucking old. We’re dying, it’s not enough.

              • expanded nature conservation and national parks more than any past president, including $4 Billion for the preservation of the shrinking Colorado River

              • brokered a peace deal in the Congo

              • investigated grocery store price gouging and blocked mergers such as Krogers-Albertsons

              • The Respect for Marriage Act which protects gay marriage

              • protected LGBT+ Service Members and Veterans

              • signed multiple executive orders protecting lgbt+ throughout the federal government including “prevent and combat discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation” and “advance equality for LGBTQI+ individuals”

              • appointed the first openly LGBTQI+ Cabinet Secretary, White House Press Secretary, and White House Communications Director, the two first openly transgender people to ever be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, and the first out lesbian to achieve the rank of Ambassador.

this list goes on, and Biden wasn’t even particularly powerful given his only senate majority was 47 DNC and 3 Independents with VP tiebreaker, and only for 2 years.

Brother, I literally said there have been progressive executive orders and progressive agency moves in the second sentence and virtually all this is executive shit. The only thing I see from congress is the respect for marriage act, which was put in place as a wall to prevent backflow of civil rights that the Supreme court granted in Obergefell v Hodges. You may as well give credit to Neil Gorsuch in your effort to thank Democrats in Congress for writing the opinion that gave them the courage to act on something they should have done during the Clinton era.

You can’t complain that a party with between 45 and 48 senators isn’t passing enough legislation. They literally don’t have the votes to pass legislation unless all of the stars align and Republicans forget to filibuster. By your logic you’re giving Republicans credit for not blocking that particular piece.

Some of what I mentioned was a part of the massive Inflation Reduction Act which did a lot more than reduce inflation.

Also, bodycams were always a cop wishlist item. They control the footage, does anyone think if ICE had bodycams there would be transparency? Of course not, there would be a ton of “malfunctioning” bodycams when they did some shit, and in any case where a civilian showed even a hint of resistance or that they might fight back, the footage would be used to bury them.

If the bodycams came with a law that said  that in case of malfunction of the bodycam the one to be trust is the civilian all those “malfunctioning” bodycams wouldn’t have any problem working right.

Yea it should be the body camera footage vs the civilian testimony. The cops shouldn’t even get to tell " their side". Camera wasn’t working? Guess the civilian testimony is 100% true.

For some reason police body cams malfunction a lot when they are shooting clearly innocent people and on ocassion corrupted footage becomes visible after the trial has acquitted the cop…

News about the USA makes me so incredibly sad and anxious currently.

I hope the world won’t go to shit and people will eventually see reason again.

I think the sooner we stop hoping and start fighting, will improve our chances to see a world based on freedom and reason within our lifetimes.

Semi trucks have camera systems that send recorded events to a third party to be monitored and stored in case needed. The only reason this is not done is because police want the ability to cover up their crimes.

The most telling part of the vid is where he switches the camera from his right hand to his left, so he can pull his gun out with his right hand.

Crazy how in China’s ‘one party system’ there’s more discussions and disagreements than in the USA’s ‘two party system’.

They only released this video because they somehow thought it exonerated the killer. They don’t release the videos of them abusing victims at their concentration camps, or breaking into peoples homes. They should always be on camera.

They’re controlled opposition funded by the same people, if you’re expecting them to save you then you’re out of luck.

If you’re American your best option is to get out and organise resistance, or to collectively fund a new political party with a backbone not in the pockets of billionaires.

Either way you need to get out there, sorry lads.
