While aristocratic oligarchs taking down a populist tyrant isn’t the unambiguous step towards freedom it’s sometimes portrayed as, it’s important to have a day to celebrate the end of tyrants.

Who will you be toasting the demise of today?

As wikipedia puts it: “The assassination failed to achieve its immediate objective of restoring the Republic’s institutions. Instead, it precipitated Caesar’s posthumous deification, triggered the Liberators’ civil war (43–42 BC) between his supporters and the conspirators, and contributed to the collapse of the Republic. These events ultimately culminated in the rise of the Roman Empire under Augustus, marking the beginning of the Principate era.”

If that day says anything about the end of tyrants, it’s that murdering one can sometimes be futile and counterproductive.

I can think of many people I wish didn’t have the power and influence they do, but I don’t wish death on anyone. Quoth Gandalf:

Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.

Personally i’m hoping for good news from the hungarian election and the end of orban.

And of course like every being capable of moral reasoning, i can’t wait to see steven miller in a prison he built, locked in a 10 person cell with 1 toilet and 100 other nazis. Happy days! 😊
