Driving through Texas I saw a giant billboard that read:
Texans, The Democrats now support communism! Republicans donāt!!
Just reeks of desperation so close to midterms in a red state. Almost as if they think their supporters are losing faith in them so they make up āscary scenariosā to win them back.
Playing devilās advocate here, but many parts of Texas are purple or even blue; itās just gerrymandered to hell. Texas contains a lot more than just staunch MAGAs, so even if they werenāt desperate (which they are to be clear) theyād want to take dumb shots at Democrats.
Not just, the government of Texas sued to stop 2m+ mail in ballot applications from getting delivered so that people couldnāt apply that way. Theyāre fighting tooth and nail to hold on to their illegitimate power.
Talarico has been leading in the polls. This could be the year of Blexas!
Talarico is the senate race Iām hoping for hardest. Paxton is a hate filled criminal psychopath who isnāt afraid to push for laws not even Nancy Mace would put her name next to. Talarico on the other hand seems pretty chill
Iād say itās the best chance in decades, but Talarico is still <50%.
Betting markets are just polls you can bribe. All a candidate has to do is make some bets in their favor, and youāll be convinced theyāre winning the race.

Lot of support for Talarico - Iāve seen maybe 30+ Talarico signs for every Paxton sign (Iāve seen only one Paxton sign so farā¦)
But I just still think the guy with an R next to his name will win.
Itās the same with Florida. If you look at results where people actually live compared to middle of nowhereāsā it paintās a better picture.
Iirc, 54% of Texans vote Democrat if it werenāt gerrymandered.

Just look at US Senate and Presidential election results. These elections are voted at large so it counts everyoneās votes equally no districts.

As you can see every single presidential since Reagan was a Republican win in Texas. Majorities ranging between +3% to +27%, last election Trump won 56% of the vote.
Iām not saying the state isnāt gerrymandered, it definitely is, most states are. But itās certainly not a majority Blue state at least historically. Iām hoping for a major upset this election cycle
Every once in a while Iāll catch a local political ad and they are always going after Dems for letting this criminal or that off the hook. Literally the best they can do is fear-mongering. No more āWe can keep money in your pocket!ā or āSmall government is best!ā. Itās all culture war nonsense.
I really wish the Democrats would fire back that theyāre letting pedophiles off the hook by not releasing the Epstein files (and protecting the PedoTUS).

The only part of it that has taken hold outside of conservative bullshit circles is that the word āliberalā no longer means someone who loves the free market and now has more to do with social justice and even supporting universal healthcare is a āliberalā thing in the US because the socialism word is evil or whatever.
Parts of it have carried over to some EU countries too because at least here in Estonia, the far right looks to Trump and Fox News for their talking points these days (weird in a country with <30% religious people) and our liberals (actual liberals, the kind who want to cut services and reduce taxation) have been called socialists lmao

I worry Americans are going to vote the GOP in for the 5k
The premise of āGay for Payā is that an otherwise heterosexual person is willing to perform sexual acts for money with people of the same sex. Itās a common fantasy/kink/trope for porn, strippers, sex workers, and so on. The embodiment of gay for pay is the joke āIām not gay, but $20 is $20.ā
Many gay for pay professionals actually are gay (or more generally LGBT+), though. Certainly not all, but many. Itās just a part they play because it makes them more money.
No doubt in my mind, most Americans who would vote MAGA GOP allegedly for the 5K are like that later group. They were going to vote GOP anyway, they are themselves MAGA through and through.
Now they can be performative and say things like āIām not MAGA, but 5K is 5Kā without ever having to publicly address the real reasons they vote the way they do. In fact, they can abandon all rational discussion of any other issues this way. āI donāt like ICE, but 5k is 5Kā.
The bribe is a classic example of convenient cover.
Of course, the promise of 5K actually is the main/only reason some people might vote at all, let alone for MAGA candidates. They mostly arenāt politically informed and savvy. They probably donāt keep up with the news or if they do itās only from the most biased and dishonest sources. They do not realize the 5K checks wonāt happen as stated regardless of who wins.
But a fake 5k is still nothing.

I hope they end up on the streets cuz theyāre ātoo proudā to use the social services they talk shit about. But we all know theyd just complain that āit isnāt enough for themā.
