I don’t think so. I did a deep dive into the rabbit hole of people who keep chimps as pets a while back and from my understanding of would be pretty hard to get a chimp to fuck you. Un-castrated male chimps are extremely violent animals and even if they were to try to have sex with a human it would be an extremely dangerous endeavor. I think most of the ladies (and interestingly, it’s almost entirely ladies) who keep chimps as pets definitely have some kind of psychological problem, but they mostly view their relationship as mother/child. Not saying that eliminates the possibility of misplaced sexual attraction, but in the written content I’ve seen from monkey moms and chimp parents I have never picked up a sexual aspect, although this was before this lady was famous and I haven’t read anything about her specifically other than what’s in this thread and article.

The cage was empty, but authorities saw “fresh dung,” flies, blankets, an empty Gatorade bottle and “a half-eaten sucker” in the case, leading them to believe a chimp had recently been kept there.
The unannounced visit was a condition of her release.
Haddix’s legal battle played out on HBO’s “Chimp Crazy.” The four-part series was released last year and followed her custody case with PETA over several chimps, including Tonka. The movie star chimp had vanished in 2021 under her care after a court granted PETA permission to transfer Tonka and other chimps to a sanctuary.
In January 2022 virtual court testimony featured in the four-part series, Haddix sobbed as she told the court that Tonka had died and was cremated. In the series, Haddix revealed to the audience that Tonka was alive and celebrated her tricking the court.
PETA used the HBO series as evidence in its case against Haddix.

Well, considering they euthanize animals at a much higher rate than other shelters, are known to peddle misinformation, and the fact that theyve been known to steal people animals to kill them, yeah, I’d certainly say i have. You are correct. PETA is very similar to the united states police. There are good members that are doing some good out there, however there are a great many documented cases of them doing terrible things that stain the reputation of the vast majority.
So what is HBOs liability in all this? I started my original comment with “why aren’t the producers all the way down to the camera OPs not being charged with somethng?” But then… This situation is bullshit but real journalists need incentives to seek out serious crime, and need to be able to record and report on it…
But then if she was keeping a human prisoner, obviously that wouldn’t fly…
Where is the line? At what point does (“should”, I know this will never happen) HBO get all their profits seized and rights to the doc taken away?
