Which is why the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries has to get the hook and be dragged off stage. They are 50% responsible for the rise, and re-rise of MAGA, and they e done nothing to earn a third chance at containing them.

It’s time we give competent, committed people the job of resisting MAGA, since these two have fully proved that they are not up to the task. In fact, when this is over, and we’re investigating everybody, we should also check into these two losers, because we’ll almost certainly find they were collaborating with MAGA all along. If that’s true, then they should end up in jail with their MAGA friends.

It’s 2026 and there are still people who think there’s more than one political party in the US.

Even worse, some of them are convinced that just spending 3 minutes of their life signing a piece of paper will be enough to change anything.

Note that I’m not discouraging anyone from voting. I don’t care whether you do or don’t, but I’d strongly encourage you to do literally anything else either instead of or on top of voting.

Just voting is how we got two world wars, with a third one well on its way, a dozen genocides, countless people dying from lack of access to basic necessities, and so on.

Clearly it’s not enough. And not just in the US, but everywhere.

With Gruesome Newsom being the possible front leader of the Democrats for presidential candidates they’re utterly not hiding they don’t care about human rights. They’d happily walk back LGBT+ rights to stay in office at this point.

He still does. Progressives are winning more and more seats, eventually the DNC will be replaced and be useful brick by brick.

Progressives are winning more and more seats

Can’t undersell the amount of progress DSA and its allies have made in the last six years.

But we’re talking about half a dozen Congressional seats. A smattering of state and local races. Lots of people who are totally untested and unproven. Lots of people - like El Sayud and Mamdani - who seem more than happy to meet Zionists and bigot reactionaries halfway.

And they’re squaring off against legions of ICE goons, corporate drones, and fascist billionaires fully on board with mass extermination of their opponents.

Look at Bo French down in Texas. This is a guy who is advocating a Holocaust of 100M people across the US. He’s polling even with Jon Rosenthal, a Democrat who wants to maybe raise taxes on energy companies a little bit.

      the DNC will be replaced

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Didn’t the DNC largely get taken over by progressives already? Which is probably why progressives are sometimes winning primaries now: The DNC aren’t ratfucking them anymore.

For those complaining that the DNC not endorsing progressives until after they won the primary – that’s what “not ratfucking the primary” looks like. The DNC is not supposed to play favorites in the primary.

It’s going to take a while before there’s traction in actual Congress, though, because they take longer to replace. But as soon as you have enough progressives to get actual leverage, you’re going to start seeing a lot more happening.

The kind of massive change we’d all like to have happen doesn’t come instantly - at least not without massive upheaval and destruction that would waste a LOT of lives.

Sure. Doesn’t mean people can’t have feelings about it though. The dems have done very little to effectively fight the GOP. Doesn’t mean OP won’t support them but expressing a little frustration is not undermining anything.

One of the big reason Democrats have lost is that they have this toxic impulse to label any criticism as a Russian or Republican conspiracy. There’s a “speak no evil” mindset that pretends that squashing criticism actually helps. Instead it just makes people bitter. The Dems tried the “sit down and shut up” approach in 2024 over Gaza. There’s nothing voters hate more than being told they have to shut up about the issues they care about. It sends a crystal-clear message:

We want your votes, not your voices. Sit down, shut up, and do what you’re told. If you don’t vote for us, the bad cop over there will win.

And the toxic positivity “the more you know” crap is also a trope repeated by Democrats that love losing elections.

No. You’re missing the point. Suppression is not what tricking you into believing voting making a difference when the trick was always to make you think that what is done to you is what you asked for. In this particular when Trump took a criminal stank of green blood of gold to do and eat this dirt work being done and nothing at all for the Jerry rig to the card “shuffler.”

The accountability Democrats created after a literal attempted coup, and having the power to do something about it for four years:

We’re here because of the repeated and reliable failure of Democrats. And that failure is possible because of commentors like you.

Fascism doesn’t have a static definition, it’s fluid to adapt to current conditions.

We will never have a complete definition of fascism, because it is in constant motion, showing a new face to fit any particular set of problems that arise to threaten the predominance of the traditionalist, capitalist ruling class. Neo liberalism, post modernism, neo colonialism, libertarian, democratic socialism. It’s all just fascism reforming itself into whatever it needs to be to maintain capitalism, and settler colonialism, and suppress the international proletariat revolution to overthrow Imperialism.

Best case scenario we get a dozen DSA’s elected and their presence numerically forces a small measure of change. The centrists are probably insider trading off their security briefings and aren’t going to do anything to stop the golden goose.

The fascists already won. Your only power now is local, as we saw in LA, Portland, Chicago, and Minneapolis earlier this year.

Interesting crap. The only truth here is if you don’t vote, you have voted for the winner. All this business about not liking a party or candidate and not voting is essentially just voting for the winner. Not very smart and just planning to roll over and take it.

No it’s not. Don’t be a fucking moron.

Democrats have earned every fucking iota of critism that can be mustered and it’s 💯 deservered.

What actually hurts Democrats is this unnecessary, thoughtless, cheerleader protection you offer them.

Democrats can’t do better if they don’t change, entirely, as a party, and guarding them from well warranted critism has done lasting and material damage to their ability to be a bulwark agaisnt fascism. You hurt Democrats chances when you dismiss critiques of them with this kind of “but Republicans bad too” shit.

As an enterpuse, Blue MAGA is largely respond for the revivL of fascism and this act you are putting on, it’s central how that process functions.

Fresh out of the nest I suppose…

This has been a primary topic of conservation on political lemmy, and before that reddit, for years. You being new to a discussion doesn’t mean the discussion is new. As a collective we’ve been having this discussion for a very long time. No, its not a coincidence that critiques about how objectively anti-democratic the Democratic party is often emerge around elections. There is an election, its time for critiques like that. Its also not your fucking place to decide for other people when is the right time for criticism or not. You can deal with the critique on its merits, or you can shut the fuck up. Otherwise you are doing precisely what I’m accusing you of.

No one in this thread is saying not to criticize Democrats…

No see thats exactly what’s happening and its exactly what you are doing. And it spoiled the election for Democrats in '24 by allowing them to continue with an internal process which is structurally manufactured to ignore the will of the voting population.
