It really sucks being a sane American right now. Like yeah you should boycott the US because money is the only language they speak, but it’s people like me who are going to suffer for it. Trump and his buddies are going to be fine. Feel like I’m rooting for my own downfall.

Hey, if they feel like picking up more trash for the county and giving the normal folks doing community service a break, they’ve got their work cut out for them lol

As for persecution attempts, my family, my neighbors, and my city will be having no tolerance for that shit. Newsom probably isn’t going to be embracing that with open arms either, even if he’s got shitty sides to his politics.

Illegal is not the word. There is a reason officers swear allegiance to the constitution and not the president or congress, and they usually have to write several hundred papers on why. If trump tries that shit they are pretty much duty bound to eat him.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, because I absolutely understand your position and the shitty position your in.

Trump IS your president. Whether you voted for him or not. At the same time, the government, or rather the way you are governed, is also YOUR responsibility. No one can change it but you and your fellow citizens. If you don’t like your president, elect someone else. If you don’t like the presented options, pressure whatever party you think fits into providing better options. If you fear, you won’t be able to ever get a real vote anymore, then fight for your right! No one from the outside is going to come in and fix this for you. This is THE ONE responsibility that you have as a citizen…

Yes, but, it’s a responsibility spread across the entire population. If you’ve ever been apart of a group project in a school setting you’re likely familiar with how people can fuck that up despite your best efforts. Yes you’re also responsible, but you (imo) also get to removed about how they fucked up your project.

Absolutely. But you can’t do more than kick the ass of everyone in your group that isn’t doing their part. You can’t stop and give up as well. You have to motivate all other group members and - if necessary - kick out the one dude that does nothing.

So…you can complain and moan, but in the end it does not change what you have to do.

From the other siexe of the pond, I really wish you all the strength and wish you all the best. I’m serious, I’m really worried about everyone in the US.

              Are you so sure?

Historically, protests have many functions as a base tactic in the overall strategy of social change.

Rarely are they the direct cause of regime change, except sometimes on the last day, but they are always necessary and productive.

this means waiting 3 more years

It won’t happen automatically. Somebody has to talk and listen to Trump’s voters and convince them to vote for somebody else. That takes time.

That is, people also need to be prepared if there is no election.

Because for close to 200 years those millions of people have happily stood back and done jack shit as their government terrorises billions across the globe.

But typical Americans only give a fuck about themselves.

You give us too much credit. It took us over a hundred years just to finish terrorizing our own country. Then maybe Americans were okay with Spanish war up to the Korean War. But I’ll tell you a majority pf American have been against all war since Vietnam in 1964 we just have no power. And Vietnam I would argue is where our reign of terror began. So you really mean 61 years of begging to stop going to war.

Trump when someone tripped and fell in front of him at Mar a lago

So, you have all these really rich people, and a man, about 80 years old – very wealthy man, a lot of people didn’t like him – he fell off the stage. So what happens is, this guy falls off right on his face, hits his head, and I thought he died.

And you know what I did? I said, “Oh my God, that’s disgusting,” and I turned away.

I couldn’t, you know, he was right in front of me and I turned away. I didn’t want to touch him. He’s bleeding all over the place, I felt terrible.

You know, beautiful marble floor, didn’t look like it. It changed colour. Became very red. And you have this poor guy, 80 years old, laying on the floor unconscious, and all the rich people are turning away.

The highlight of this incident was Doctor Oz actually behaving like a doctor, politics aside.

Trump, meanwhile, showed leadership by… uhm… watching. He literally froze, for the love of god…!

I mean years ago when more aware he bragged about how he couldn’t deal with the site of blood, so this is in character for him. Probably not great with any crisis, we’ve seen evidence of that too. Weak. MAGA, this is what you wanted as a role model leader? Y’all are weak too.

On top of that, he constantly whines and cries about being persecuted (largely imagined.) Trump can’t make one single statement without crying about it. Repugs’ idea of a “strong man” leader is really anything but.

Actually listening to him speak for several minutes is horrifying. Reading excepts and watching short clips just doesn’t get the level of dementia across. Seen the video where Japan’s new prime minister has to lead him around? Trump’s walking around, utterly glazed, doing the thorazine shuffle. If a cop saw me walking down the street like that, confronted me and found me in Trump’s condition, I’d either be in jail for public intoxication or checked into the ER.

Really hard to watch without screaming, “Why isn’t every media outlet on the planet hammering this home! The most powerful man in the world should be in a care home!”

First administration was bad enough, but he’s so, so very far worse off now.

I ended up seeing stuff from his first term and before. The content hasn’t changed; he’s still an old racist bigot. But the way he talks has drastically slowed. He rambles more than he used to. He’s not well. Biden was too old for office. This guy is worse.
