    Man…

Back in the early day, before MOBAs were a thing, there was a huge diversity of mods made in WC3. There were some pretty good ones like ants versus spiders.

As much as I like where gaming has gone, its far too copy-centric/ myopic in what games should be. I’d love to play an MMO where you are just one weak ass ant in a hive of hundreds of thousands of other weak ass ants. Thats it. just a fucking ant.

It used to be a lot more viable to publish a multiplayer title and have a good player base. Nowadays, player bases have been captured by large live service models. Games like tremulous where you essentially play as an alien ant and gain points by building buildings and killing human soldiers to evolve into a bigger aliens. There was also the human Marine team who basically played like starcraft Marines.

It was essentially first person team-based starcraft. And it was amazing. And nobody’s playing this shit anymore. It’s kind of a shame.

I weirdly really want more realistic bug games too. I’m disappointed how many games with spider enemies make them behave so strangely where they basically roar and swipe at you like a giant feral cat.

I want more realistic enemy behaviors in general. Most animal enemies in games react exactly the same. Roar, run at you, bite.

It’d be great if in for example Skyrim, instead of the wolves just beelining straight for you. They were howling and running alongside you in the woods. Stalking you and waiting for the chance for the whole group to strike at once. If you try to go for the wolves, the ones you run after would distract you while the others try to get you in the back. It could be exhilarating but no, we’ve just decided to make games fucking boring I guess

did you ever play subnautica? the creatures in that mostly do their own thing, and (with a few pretty notable exceptions) only swipe at you when they’re hungry or you get close to their eggs.

Metropolis, maybe, but ants lack the neon lights and late-stage capitalism necessary for cyberpunk.

with ants wasps and hornets they don’t really “spit” their venom, it’s more like they have a second sharper asshole that they shart it out their enemies.

There’s this one guy on youtube Hornet King who removes wasp and hornet nests as part of his living and he’s got some videos of wasps and hornets squirting their venom in situations where they can’t sting because of the guy’s suit
