Did anyone tell him SF is really fucking cold at night. It’s not like socal homeless beach sleeping, it’s miserable.

This would be a punishing miserable existence and hence is obvious bait. If you fell for it, I suggest more education on the homeless experience.

What are they then gonna do? Wank to their imagination all day?

Personally, I’d rather these wastes collect 700 a month to be homeless than work alongside them. But I’ve been told I have a difficult disposition, nobody wants to work with me, either.

    Nobody is happy

I’d rather them just have safe places to sleep than clog up the psych ward. I wanna provide a safe comfy playpen for people so manic / psychotic they don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground (or very truly and deeply suicidal) then release them safely back into the world to continue a fulfilling existence once they come out of it.

Instead we have a rotating roster of homeless people trying to figure out the right thing to say to prolong their stay as much as possible then literally threatening to kill me when they have to follow the rules meant to keep the manic / psychotic / suicidal people safe from themselves. No you can’t have your cellphone because alien abduction annie over here would be posting pics of her butthole on her public Facebook to try to entice the Venusians to come back for it and our guy who just ODed on Friday would be texting his dealer to try and do it again and our lady who insists she tried to hang herself would be getting lovebombed by the boyfriend that actually put those marks on her neck.

Like genuinely 3 hots and a cot homeless people are often my favorites but the ones making death threats over the turkey sandwiches being too dry are kinda getting to me lately.

How do they check if you’re homeless? Couldn’t you just rent a property and tell nobody?

In Germany you are required to register your address with the authorities and your landlord has to register you as well. But as far as I know there is no such central registration of all citizens in the US. Isn’t that one of the reasons why there’s always such a big hassle to get enrolled as a voter?

Yeah that could work as long as you never change your mailing address to where you are staying but there’s nowhere you can rent for $700 in SF.

Surprised to not see this thread flooded with NEET defenders claiming it isn’t really like that. I’ve witnessed this shit with my own eyes. These people aren’t disabled, they are entitled. NEET is a choice. There are so many people who are genuinely unable to function in society. Folks with crippling anxiety, or other disabilities. They are not this.

I will say, billionaires also sit on their ass all day and get paid millions which they use to actively make my life more miserable; and while NEETs are an issue, they are not my top priority on “people I am pissed at.”

If we melt down the billionaires and start a UBI then the people who won’t or can’t contribute will be a burden spread thin instead of being a heavy weight on their families. My reasons for resentment of NEET by choice are personal.

It isn’t really like what? NEET is a choice, but NEET is also a defense mechanism to make failure look like a choice. I was a proud NEET for a while and I still have some online NEET friends, and all of them have some underlying problem that they don’t want to admit (autism, in my case). Also, very often the parents enable it unwittingly. They’re supportive for too long, never get external help, then either keep enabling (too proud to admit their mistake) or turn abusive (and make the distrust worse).

Now, getting a bus ticket to a strange city and living in a Starbucks? None of my NEET friends would ever dare do such a terrifying thing. Outside is where the dangers live. Maybe if they thought the inside threat was real enough, but… enabling parents, see?

These people aren’t disabled, they are entitled. NEET is a choice

Just because NEET anons often post stories about how they beat the system, doesn’t mean that’s actually the reason why they’re NEET. The label NEET is (often) a choice, but being longterm unemployed typically isn’t. Considering how people act towards the unemployed and people with chronic health issues in general, I straight-up don’t believe that you have “seen it with your own eyes”.

Edit: I wouldn’t even be surprised if the majority of these 4chan NEET posts are just made by people trying to character-assasinate the unemployed.

Well I don’t fucking care what you believe. There is a difference between someone who cannot work and provide for themselves and someone who simply refuses to work. The person in this post very much exists. She was my daughter. So fuck you.

Which is disappointing because universal basic income would be a good thing to have for a lot of people who are genuinely struggling.

But for those who are not disabled, to get them to work and not chill on NEETbucks all year ‘round, the economy would have to be in a good shape and effort would have to pay off and not make all profits disappear into the billionaires’ pockets.

Well, if we boil down all the billionaires, we’d be well on the way to providing a UBI. Right now the NEETs are just a burden that most of us can’t afford.

NEET is an acronym that means Not in Employment, Education or Training. Essentially, it describes someone who is neither working nor going to school and likely not job seeking either. NEETs are usually financially supported by their parents or other family members.

Isn’t NEET just a fancy way of saying “unemployed”? Most unemployed are not supported much by their parents.

Weird how that’s exactly what people are saying about the longterm unemployed where I live. For the majority of them it’s either straight-up not true, or they literally cannot work for health reasons, or they are already working some but can’t do more because of parenting duties, so they have to rely on unemployment payments to make ends meet.

Upon further consideration, you have a point. A self identified NEET might not, but it’s also a label that is applied to people who might want to gain employment or training but don’t have the opportunity.

Not employed, in education or training. In education or training usually implies that it’s to get a job later.

It usually more specifically someone who chooses not to pursue a job or career prospects. (Ie: being laid off for long periods of time but still looking for work doesnt count)

Yep. I know plenty of pope who work menial jobs and whine all day and drink a lot… they are all from wealthy families and are just waiting for their folks to die and/or their trust to mature. they know they don’t have to do jack shit in life and they tend to look down on people who work hard… as losers.

It’s pure entitlement. And if you call them out on it, they go straight to the sob story about how mommy and daddy are mean or something.
