Mine is simply banana.

Banana is hard to beat for convenience. I’d say a close second for me is either mixed nuts or sumo oranges

Prunes are actually so nice. You get really shifty looks from people if you suggest it but it’s just a cheap, nice food.

I make a big batch of tasty high-fiber granola and keep it in the freezer. Almost every day I have some with Greek yogurt and berries.

Oats. We do a two-day oat diet a few times a year, with three meals a day consisting of 80g of oats and half a liter of tea or broth.

Maybe. Cheese also has protein, and is pretty good at making you feel full. Any snack i eat less of is a healthy snack

There’s also a protective element in dairy, at least in animals. I believe they haven’t been able to create human studies to prove this either way

Yeah I agree, especially about the making you feel full part. It’s definitely not the worst snack in the world. Just snacking some tofu for example would be a much healthier alternative though. More protein, less fat. Cheese is usually tastier, but some smoked tofu variants with spices and maybe nuts aren’t actually that bad.

I am not employed by nor promoting this company, I’ve just been a loyal customer for 5 years: j i m my j o y d o t c o m has quick effortless convenient foods that provide 100% RDA of all nutrients in a rectangular bar that looks & tastes like rice crispy treats, and their powdered shakes. I live in USA but people who live in Europe get even more options like savory soups and more variety of flavors of bars & shakes. I’m particularly envious of their Speculoos flavor and cherry pie flavor and savory soups that aren’t available in USA. And it’s all VERY inexpensive.

Beans, rice, veggies. Put in frying pan, fill with water, turn to low simmer, walk away for 40-60 min. Until the water is gone, basically. I use ~140g dry beans, rice gets eyeballed depending on how hungry I am at the moment. Up to a quarter cup? Beans stay consistent due to soaking. Veggies are whatever I have on hand. I like to mix in leafy stuff after it’s done though. That’s about two meals, which will keep for a day, maybe two unrefrigerated. Flavor profile is muted and heavily seasoning dependent, so you can still have “variety” without having to plan ahead.

Bananas are good. I like yogurt as well when I have it. Lately in the convenience but not healthy is a single Hawaiian roll because they help with my stomach acid problem.

My kids keep asking me to make bread again but I put away the bread machine for good reason. My health couldn’t afford it

That was always our weekend tradition: start the machine after dinner and settle in for a night of gaming, and have hot freshly made bread as a midnight snack. The problem is there was never anything left over from a loaf

I’m pretty sure that’s just a function of fresh bread. lol.

My mom used to make quick Sally Lunn and hot chocolate on Christmas Eve. I always hated that because there was just one smallish loaf and it goes fast with three people, but I loved it because it was so good.

But it was part of a carb journey before I learned what carbs were that led me to a decade of unmanaged diabetes that’s given me seven heart attacks, a below-knee emptuation, kidney failure leaving my on dialysis, and oh so much more “fun”.

So yeah. I get it on bread. lol.

Also, not venting to you but since I’m here - the downvote on my comment above, which boils down to the general principle of “everything in moderation”, just makes me roll (har har, didn’t intend that pun but saw it soon as I typed it so leaving it) my eyes at lemmy. I need to find something that hides voting because it only pisses me off. lol.

Canned sardines are my quick go-to brunch if I’m too lazy to prepare anything. I’ll usually have leftover rice in the fridge. Then I can quickly cook an egg too.
