I hate when I see a video going “here is my go-to lazy meal for when I’m totally beat” and the first thing they do is start chopping an onion.

A lazy meal is a bag of beige crap from the freezer, dumped into an oven tray and left for 20 minutes on gas mark 8. If it’s more effort than that, you can stick it.

it’s like when someone uploads a video of “cheap diy project” and half the materials is a couple hundred dollars of stuff they already own from previous projects. or “cheap optiplex gaming pc” and the gpu is a rtx 3090 nvidia gave them for free for being a tech youtuber.

Oven? Why be such an overachiever? If it requires more than 1 button press on the microwave I’m just gonna eat it cold.

I buy frozen chopped onions and pepper and onion mix because I fucking hate chopping. Admittedly, the peppers aren’t as good vs fresh, but I will deal with subpar peppers to not have to chop anything. I will say, one annoying thing is fewer and fewer grocery stores stock frozen chopped onions, likely due to lower margins because they are usually dirt cheap, like $1/ bag.

It’s a hot meal, and the mac looks homemade, and not from a box. Girl needs to talk to her boyfriend, and stop bitching on the internet. The conversation should start like this, “Thank you for dinner, I appreciate the effort. Next time you cook, can you make some of these things in the future, they are some of my favorite meals?”

My wife works a 7 days on 7 days off hospital shift. On her workdays, I stay up late and have a hot dinner ready for her. After 3 years, I have had 0 complaints. We talk to each other about things we like and our preferences, so I try to cook things I know she will like anyway. I used to make things like felafel from scratch, tons of homemade veggie soups from scratch, like split pea, butternut squash bisque, garden veggie, until I learned she didn’t like those things and just focused my efforts on things she likes.

In a healthy relationship, adults talk to each other about their wants and needs, instead of bitching on the internet.

I once saw a guy eat an entire pound of ground beef. Just some pan fried ground beef with salt and pepper. Nothing else, just pure boy kibble

I watched my body building friend eat rice, chicken, and hot sauce. Every day for years. Joy was not part of the equation.

I’ve read that “chicken and broccoli” is a body-builder euphemism for gear (steroids and growth hormones etc.) but apparently that’s not true for everybody.

Did she have it refrigerated & sent with ice packs? If not, eew, major health code violation & I assume you didn’t die of worms since you’re here to tell a story about how thoughtful your mom is.

Yes, ice packs and one giant zip lock of 4 pounds of meat. I don’t really know why she did it, I had a job and money. I did eat it and it was nice though. Poured it into a bowl and microwaved it.

I don’t know her, I’ll ask and risk her unintentionally feeling bad about herself!

But seriously, that’s your choice. I would just want to know in your shoes. Hell, you used it and appreciated it, start with that! “Hey mom, I heard that parents these days consider kids out of sight/out of mind and basically cut-off when they leave the house, even for college! I know you kept me fed when I wasn’t living at home… Thanks for that!”

Me SO and I Cook fairly often and maybe once every year or two we will go through a spurt where we primarily only eat one thing. We don’t really discuss it, just naturally we get in a rutt where we both don’t want to cook and gravitate to who ever comes up with the best boy/girl dinner and lock in on that. Instead of dinner it becomes whatever cute nick name we give it. Kind of like how people call chipotle slopbowls we had a spinich lunch meat salad we just called turkey bowl.

We ate only ham on bread with swiss for nearly a month, charcuterie for a few weeks, a lunch meat spinach salad with olive garden dressing for nearly a month. Then we get bored or it or we start feeling like we need actual nutrition.

Its weird because we normally enjoy cooking and making nice food that takes time and effort, then out of no where its like your brain breaks and you just want the least ingredients to be considered a meal.

My sister-in-law cooks like that. She’ll make one main course (and TBF it’s delicious) but absolutely nothing else – no side dishes, no salad, not even anything to drink.

Mac & cheese have been ruined for me by that instinct that makes you disgusted by the last thing you ate before getting a stomach bug. Cmon body it’s not a novel type of berry it won’t be poisonous this time

Same thing happened to me and celery. One fucking bite and as soon as it plopped into my stomach crippling pain and out of school for the week with flu.

MINUTES BEFORE the christmas cheesecske dinner, too.

Had the same thing with coconut. Used to like it, until I paired it with the flu. Now I can’t have anything that I can’t have anything that tastes like it or I get queasy. That happened when I was a child and it has carried into being an adult.

Interestingly enough if you had a strong enough preference for something it kind of overrides that instinct. I did the same thing with lasagna and I still eat that shit up like Garfield.

I am of the persuasion that stomach bugs do not exist.

Food poisoning is more common than one would think, but also takes a bit longer than one would think.

I do remember hearing that that food poisoning is the fault of something you ate much earlier that week. But also, food seems to stay 1-4 days in my body after eating it. So if that were the case the puke impulse wouldn’t clear out the thing that caused the illness, it would be in the intestines or out of the body already. If puking evolved it must be for a reason

It’s the little baddies that ride the food in and multiply that’s bad. When they hit critical mass, the body expels them.

Depends on the food iirc. I had bad sushi that had me puking within maybe six hours. God that was a nightmare, and I hate that I’m hesitant to try my favorite food again. At the same time I’m grateful that it didn’t seem to get digested enough to go through both ends

I mean, if it was hand battered and fried and the mac wasn’t kraft but actually put together, then it’s a pretty nice meal. Add some vegetables.
